As of April 21st, 2015 Google is now officially punishing smaller businesses that don’t have a mobile-friendly website. Our world has gone so mobile-centric and now there is actual distinction between websites based on the format they’re built in.
They say 4 out of 5 small businesses are not mobile-friendly. Even the chain restaurant California Pizza Kitchen’s site cpk.com did not rank mobile-friendly enough for Google’s new algorithm. So how do you know if you currently have a mobile site? If you go to your URL on your phone, tablet or other smart device, and the site does not adjust or “reorganize” to fit the smaller screen automatically. If you were getting steady traffic before the 21st and now you’re not, this could likely be the reason for it.
So what do you do if you realize that your site is being demoted on Google searches? Have it redone! We guarantee all of our websites are mobile-friendly and will keep you from being in the great demotion by Google Search.
